Singapore - After 20 months with closed borders, Singapore finally eased its travel regulations. Tourists entering or transiting the country, including citizens and permanent residents, must take a pre-departure Covid-19 PCR test or a rapid Antigen Test.

Thailand - Visitors from 63 countries included in the entry permission list are no longer obliged to stay in a lengthy quarantine. Booking a room in a government-approved hotel is still a must.

Malaysia - Fully vaccinated tourists ready to stay for at least three days are now allowed to visit Malaysia's Langkawi islands. However, providing a PCR test result is still a must.

Sri Lanka - Sri Lanka is currently open for almost all destinations; however, some countries are currently banned due to the Omicron variant. It is important to note that all visitors must pay mandatory Covid-19 insurance of 12 USD. Fully vaccinated travelers are exempted from purchasing it till December 31st, 2021.

India - For the first time in almost two years, the country has reopened its borders to foreign visitors who were fully immunized. Travelers coming from countries identified as "at-risk" must undergo Covid testing, and if tested positive, they'll be shifted to a medical facility. If negative, they'll need to self-quarantine for seven days.

Taiwan - The country is still open for essential travel; thus, all visitors must submit a negative PCR COVID-19 test result and quarantine for 14 days. The government announced that as of January 4th the 3-day period of a COVID-19 RT-PCR test report required for inbound passengers would be changed to two days.

Now that we got a little bit clearer on 6 COVID-19 vaccination-related frequently asked questions, it's time to dig a little bit deeper, see which countries have already opened their borders for vaccinated citizens, which are planning to do so, and what are the requirements.

The good news is, after more than a year of closed borders,  Americans will finally be able to go to Europe this summer, coronavirus prevention measures are still in place.

Countries Open To Vaccinated Tourists

North America

1. Anguilla

Starting April 12, tourists who have received their second dose of the vaccine, 21 days before arriving will only have to quarantine for 7 days, instead of the usual 14. As of July 1st, everyone entering Anguilla has to be fully vaccinated, fees and quarantine demands will be eliminated.

2. Bahamas

Beginning May 1st everyone who has been administered both vaccines are welcome to visit the country. No negative test result must be provided, social distancing and mask-wearing are still mandated.

3. Barbados

Those fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech or Johnson & Johnson are permitted to enter Barbados starting May 8, 2021. The proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken no longer than three days before travel needs to be provided.

4. Belize

According to the latest health order, everyone bringing proof of coronavirus immunization is exempted from presenting a negative COVID-19 test result. Please note that the last vaccine must be taken no later than two weeks prior to arrival.  

5. British Virgin Islands

The country is relaxing restrictions for vaccinated tourists. According to its government, starting May 15th those who received one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or both doses of AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Moderna will only go through a simple PCR test upon arrival and will be released from quarantine if received a negative result.

6. Grenada

The quarantine period for vaccinated travelers will be reduced to 48 hours till the COVID-19 test result is received. Please keep in mind that at least  2 weeks should pass after the second vaccine is administered, in order to benefit from this new rule. Bringing a negative coronavirus test result that was taken no more than 72 hours before travel is still mandatory, as well as taking one upon arrival at the airport. You will have to quarantine for up to 48 hours while awaiting the result, then you are free to move around the country.

To avoid any misunderstandings, please also complete the travel authorization at travelauth.health.gov.gd.

South America

7. Ecuador

The vaccination certificate, as well as proof of a negative PCR or antigen test, should be provided at the airport to exempt the holder from obligatory quarantine. Coronavirus safety protocols such as mask-wearing, and keeping social distance are still in force.

Europe

8. Croatia

In order to visit Croatia with no imposed restrictions, everyone entering Croatia after April 1st must provide proof of vaccination, unless a negative COVID-19 PCR test result or antigen evidence are presented. Children under seven years old are an exception for the above.

9. Cyprus

65 countries from all over the Earth are welcome to visit Cyprus beginning May 10th. No quarantine will be imposed on those who present a vaccination passport, or a negative result of the PCR test taken no longer than 3 days prior to arrival.

10. Estonia

The 10-day quarantine, as well as testing requirements, have been lifted for those travelers who can prove to have been fully vaccinated.

Just like with any other country, travelers must continue to adhere to any public health measures that are in place in Estonia.

11. Georgia

Travelers coming from any country around the planet may visit Georgia if presenting documentation that would confirm the arrived person has been fully vaccinated. Before crossing the border, make sure you complete the special form required by the country's government.

12. Greece

Starting April 19th, tourists who have received a full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before entering the country are no longer required to quarantine or provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test. The passenger locator form must be filled in before reaching the airport.

13. Iceland

Vaccinated travelers arriving in the country will be tested for COVID at the country's borders, free of charge. The result should be expected at the accommodation booked for up to 24 hours, after which you can freely voyage through the country. The testing requirement is not permanent and will be reviewed till June 1st.

14. Montenegro

Travelers from anywhere can travel to Montenegro without compulsory testing. By presenting proof of vaccination, with the second dose received at least 7 days before arrival, or a negative PCR test result taken 72 hours before travel, you will be permitted to visit the country.

15. Slovenia

The country imposes a 10-day quarantine for anyone arriving here unless full vaccination is proven or a negative PCR test for COVID-19 is shown. At least one week must pass after the second vaccination dose with Pfizer, 2 weeks after the second Moderna dose, 3 weeks after the second AstraZeneca dose.

16. Romania

Individuals who were fully vaccinated may now disregard the quarantine requirement while traveling to Romania, by simply presenting the confirmation documentation. Tourists must expect at least 10 days after their final vaccine dose to travel.

17. Lithuania

COVID vaccination is not required in the case of Lithuania, although those holding a passport confirming the immunization benefit from the exemption of showing a negative PCR test result. Please reach out to your local embassy for more detailed and up-to-date information.

Asia

18. Israel

As of May 23rd, Israel will be welcoming a limited number of tourist groups, as part of its border reopening program. This number will grow based on the actual health situation and immunization progress. Those tripping individually will be permitted to enter Israel in the second stage of the program, with health considerations determining the timeline.

19. Nepal

The quarantine requirements were removed for all travelers visiting Nepal and showing evidence of full vaccination, as an attempt to revive the tourism industry and increase the economy. 72 hours before travel, please also submit a negative PCR test report, and be ready to support the costs of another PCR test upon arrival.

Oceania

20. Tahiti

Starting May 1st Tahiti has reopened to international travelers who can bring proof of being vaccinated. In case of immunization with Pfizer or Moderna, you can travel the same day you receive the second dose. In the case of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, you need to wait 14 days to travel. PCR tests on arrival are still required.

More destinations are expected to announce their reopening soon, many are already open with testing requirements. Based on the documentation released by now, 27 countries from the European Union are working on a vaccine-certification system for more accessible cross-border travel.

The system will be decentralized, entrusting health authorities to release certificates proving a specific person has received Covid-19 vaccination or has antibodies.

Some countries and states are already experimenting with vaccine passports, including Hawaii, New York, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Poland, and Australia.

Others, like Belize, Georgia, Greece, Iceland, Seychelles, and Lebanon, confirm they will allow entering their borders and waive off some of the restrictions once proved that both doses of the vaccine had been administered.

Shall We Make Travel Plans For When We're Immunized?

If you plan to get the vaccine anytime soon, you will do no wrong with planning your vacation ahead. Please ensure you verify your destination's official statement to confirm it allows travel for vaccinated tourists.

Do not know when you may be allowed to travel again? Try making some approximate calculations using the timeline below.

Suppose the general public gets access to the vaccine by the beginning of May month, and you are scheduled to take the first dose on May 5th. In that case, by the end of the same month, you will supposedly be administered the second dose since there has to be a timeframe distance from one vaccine to another of 21-28 days.

Give the vaccines at least 7-14 days to do their job; during this period, your body will learn how to defeat coronavirus. By the middle of June (June 7-14th), you will have solid immunity against the virus and will be permitted to travel.

About Changi Airport Closure and the Developing Crisis

Are there restrictions on travel between cities and states?

There’s a SafeEntry process for contact tracing purposes for almost all businesses. If not holding a SafeEntry, you will have to present your ID card or passport.

Do I have to stay in quarantine if I’m a US citizen?

Regardless of nationality, all Singapore visitors are subject to a mandatory SHN. So, yes, you’ll have to stay for 14 days in a dedicated facility. You will have to pay for the provided accommodation and COVID-19 testing except for the case when you are permitted to serve the SHN at your own accommodation. Nonetheless, COVID-19 testing is chargeable in either case.

Violation of a Stay-Home Notice is punishable under Singaporean law.

COVID-19 Testing

In Singapore, COVID-19 testing is allowed only in those cases if a doctor considers that there is a clinical need to do so, based on the person’s travel/contact history and health condition. • Some hotels changed their approach to breakfasts. If earlier most of them provided it as a buffet, now, breakfasts are provided in-room. Check how your hotel provides breakfasts.
• Book and pay for your stay online if possible.
• In public spaces, use your face covering.
• Spend the minimum amount of time in public spaces like pools, game rooms, fitness centers, etc.
• If you can, avoid using the elevator or get only on empty ones.
• If you worry about the safety of your room, you can sanitize it by yourself with antibacterial wipes and sanitizers. Pay special attention to surfaces you touch the most.

Unfortunately, the world outbreak has ruined many plans and has definitely impacted our lives a lot. The longest maze in the world, which measures almost 1.7 miles, can be found in Longleat. It was created by famous landscape designers back in 1978. The labyrinth, which by the way, was built using 16,000 English yews, is part of 8,000 acres that belonged to various Marquesses of Bath since 1700. Nowadays, the area includes a Safari Park and three smaller but equally gorgeous mazes.

Labirinto della Masone (Masone Labyrinth), Parma, Italy

Not far away from the UK is situated the world's largest maze, and it is located in Italy. The Labirinto della Masone is a star-shaped maze that, quite interestingly, is a result of a dare. The maze was established in 2015 after the Italian publisher Franco Maria Ricci declared that he’s set to build the largest maze in the world, and author Jorge Luis Borges said he won't be able to accomplish that.

In case your flight experiences some alterations like it is being canceled or delayed, the airline should call you so that you can make changes to the flight for a little charge or no charge at all. In case the airline doesn’t call you, you should get in touch with its representatives and ask directly for a refund if you are willing to do it.

Missing, canceling and not showing up for non-refundable flights

Travelers with non-refundable fares who miss their flight for reasons beyond their control, like delayed connections or bad weather conditions as usual aren’t charged any change or cancel fees. They can also be offered a standby ticket for the next available flight, but that is not a guarantee that they’ll arrive at the destination on time or via the initial itinerary.

In other cases, when travelers can potentially control whether or not they will miss the flight, like oversleeping or showing up with an expired ID, they will likely be charged a fee for the flight modification.

Speaking of other cases, when travelers are late for the flight, for instance, airlines can provide them with a standby slot for the next flight if they make it to the airport in less than two hours from the missed flight.

As you can see, every particular case may be discussed with the airline and can end up very well for the passenger. The simple fact is that you should be prepared to provide evidence that you couldn’t be on time at the airport so that the airline waives the fee and provides you with an alternative solution.

United Airlines

Here are several general facts that you may want to know before digging into the Mada’in Saleh history:

1. It is an archaeological site located within Al Madinah Region and 12 miles to the north of Al Ula.
2. It is also known as Al Hijr and Hegra.

5. The name is a reference to the Quranic Prophet Saleh. The full name of the site translates into “Cities of Salih.” According to the Quran, the site was inhabited by the Thamudi people, at the same time with the Prophet Saleh.
6. It is famous for the 131 huge tombs that were carved into rocks.
7. In 2008, it got the official status of UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it the first site in Saudi Arabia to get this status.
8. It is a top attraction in Saudi Arabia that is currently promoted by the government to get global touristic attention.

Mada’in Saleh is indeed one of the most sought after places to visit in Al Ula by thousands of tourists annually, but unexpectedly it is not so popular among the locals. And there is a reason why the Saudis avoid even crossing over the site.

As previously mentioned, the site was inhabited by the Thamuds and their presence is dated to 715 BC. They also had Saleh as their prophet. The Thamuds built their homes high in the cliffs of the area. As a civilization, they were corrupt and arrogant and worshiped idols carved from stone. Despite Saleh tried to guide them onto the true path by telling them that there is only one God, they refused to listen to his messages, from which they got punished by God.

Villagers asked Saleh to prove that an invisible God existed, and Saleh complied with it. God eventually created a pregnant she-camel that came out of a rock and gave birth to a calf. The miracle indeed got Thamudi people awe-struck. Villagers were allowed by Saleh to let the she-camel and the calf to drink water from the well on alternating days. But they refused to do it and moreover, they killed the she-camel while the calf escaped.

God, seeing this, told Saleh to get out of the region and sent a destructive earthquake and lightning on it, killing all the villagers. This way the area not only got the unofficial status of cursed but also has remained completely abandoned for centuries to the present days.

So, is Madain Saleh cursed? Some visitors claim to hear the faint keening of the baby camel. Some just hear the whistling wind that swirls among the rocks and the nearby mountains. Nonetheless, Mada’in Saleh is a valuable archeological finding that has to be treasured for its history and its appearance.
